Brittany has a expansive coastline - The Historical province of Brittany

The historical kingdom, duchy and French province, as well as one of the Celtic nations. The French administrative region of Bretagne, is Bretagne.

Brittany is a former independent kingdom and duchy, and a province of France. Brittany is one of the six Celtic Nations. It is also, more generally, the name of the cultural area whose limits correspond to the old province and independent duchy.

Brittany occupies a large peninsula in the northwest of France, lying between the English Channel to the north and the Bay of Biscay to the south. Its land area is 34,034 km² (13,137 sq. mi). The region is divided into five departments: to the west is Finistere, Côtes-d'Armor lies to the North, Ille-et-Vilaine is in the north-east, Loire-Atlantique is to the south-east and Morbihan lies in the middle.

The nearest village, Plouye is 2 kilometers away and has bars and small shops. Huelgoat is 8 kilometers distant and is a very pretty little town set beside a lake and surrounded by fascinating boulder-strewn forests. Carhaix-Plouger is a larger town with some beautiful mediavel buildings, a full range of shops and amenities and a fantastic music festival www.vieillescharrues.asso.fr/festival/index.php in July which has featured some very big name bands like Deep Purple, Joe Cocker, Franz Ferdinand and The Cure, to name but a few. The sea is about 45 minutes drive west or north or a little longer South with unspoilt beaches and pretty towns and villages in abundance in all directions. The area is close to the Monts de Aree National Park which is a wild and windswept moorland area. The whole region is great for indulging in all sorts of outdoor activites - mountain biking, hiking, parascending, sand yachting, canoeing and many others.

Roscoff (5-6 hours from Plymouth with www.brittanyferries.com is one hours drive, quicker if it's quiet on the roads (which it often is) and it's about the same distance to the airport at Brest. www.flybe.co.uk flies from several UK airports to this ideally situated, small airport including Exeter (35 minutes). Other ferries serve routes such as Portsmouth to Caen.

Plouye Village

Plouye has small shops for those little essentials as well as three bars, including the Welshmans pub, Ty Ellez,!
The village has a beautiful church with a spire which can be seen from miles around. Plouye is a quick drive, a 30 minute walk or a 15 minute cycle from Gouled Treo Bihan.

Déolen is a coastal town in Brittany in France.
Déolen has a popular surfing beach. It is 12 kilometres from Brest and 21 kilometres from the Brest International Airport.
